Be Your Own Pet - 'Let's Get Sandy [Big Problem]' (XL) Released 23/01/06

The impossibly young Tennessee youngsters Be Your Own Pet come up trumps yet again with this unfeasibly short yelp of a track, ‘Let’s Get Sandy (Big Problem)’. Clocking in at just 57 seconds they manage to pack as much punk bite and visceral snarl into its sub-minute than most could do in four. Led by unapologetic thrashing guitars and maniacal drumming, when Jemima whirls into the scene with her American-twanged erratic vocals ending with “we will guarantee that it won’t be very nice” it all adds up to an absolute stomper. Worth buying for the flip side ‘Early Sandy (I’ve Got A Big One)’ which we could describe, but really words couldn’t sum up its unhinged genius.
